PCOS Unfiltered: Nourish, Heal, Thrive

#84 The Identity Shift That Changes Everything With Vicki McDougall

Episode Summary

What if the most powerful shift in your life isn’t changing your diagnosis, your circumstances, or your environment… but choosing who you become within them? In this deeply moving and empowering conversation, Lindsie sits down with coach and podcast host Vicki McDougall to explore what it truly means to reclaim your identity after life breaks you open. From navigating cancer and chronic health challenges to experiencing profound grief, burnout, and loss, Vicki shares how years of putting everyone else first left her disconnected from herself—and how everything changed when she finally turned inward. This episode goes beyond surface-level healing. It dives into the patterns so many women live in: staying busy to avoid feeling, ignoring the body’s signals, questioning our worth, and believing we’re stuck. But here’s the truth you’ll hear over and over in this conversation: You are not stuck. You are not powerless. And you always have a choice in who you become. Together, Lindsie and Vicki unpack the mindset shifts, emotional awareness, and small daily actions that lead to lasting transformation—from “I’ll try” to “I am,” from competition to collaboration, and from disconnection to deep self-trust. If you’ve been feeling overwhelmed, burnt out, or disconnected from yourself, this episode will remind you that everything you need is already within you—you just have to get quiet enough to hear it.

Episode Transcription

(0:00) Because if I can help one woman see what's possible in her life (0:04) and who she chooses to be is more important than anything else she'll ever do, (0:10) then I've done my job. Hey beautiful, welcome back to PCOS Unfiltered. I'm your host, (0:17) Lindsie, and today's conversation is one that goes far beyond any diagnosis, (0:21) symptom, or label.Because if there's one thing I want you to hear in this episode, it's this. (0:26) You are not stuck and you are not powerless, no matter what you're walking through. (0:31) Today, I'm joined by Vicky McDougall, a coach, a podcast host herself, and someone who has walked (0:37) through some incredibly heavy seasons of life. From cancer and chronic health challenges to (0:42) grief, loss, burnout, and rebuilding her identity from the ground up. After nearly 40 years as a (0:48) hairstylist, being the one who held space for everyone else, Vicky found herself at a crossroads (0:54) where she had to finally turn inward and ask, who do I get to be in the middle of all this? (1:00) And what she discovered is something I know so many of you need to hear. (1:03) In this episode, we talk about how grief, trauma, and stress can disconnect us from our bodies, (1:09) the moment you realize you actually get to choose who you become, why staying busy can keep you (1:14) stuck and what happens when you finally get quiet, and how to rebuild confidence even when (1:19) life has completely knocked you down. This is one of those conversations that reminds you (1:23) you're allowed to take your power back. So if you're feeling overwhelmed, disconnected, (1:29) or like life has been a lot lately, this one is for you. Now, as a reminder, the content shared (1:35) on PCOS Unfiltered is for informational and educational purposes only. The views and (1:41) opinions expressed by the host and guests are not intended to serve as medical advice. Here's my conversation with Vicki McDougal. (2:10) Welcome, welcome.Welcome to Vicki and welcome back to PCOS Unfiltered. So Vicki, I am so excited (2:18) for this one. Let's just start by, you know, introducing yourself and sharing your story.

(2:25) Thanks so much, Lindsie, for having me today. I really appreciate it. Well, I'm a hairstylist (2:31) by trade.I've been doing hair for almost 40 years and I still enjoy it. I love it very much. (2:37) But I was sick in 2016, so it kind of shifted my path.I can't do hair full time anymore. I had (2:44) chemo and I still suffer a little bit of the effects of the neuropathy in my hands and my feet. (2:49) So, you know, from being behind the chair for all that time, I just figured, (2:56) what's my next logical transition? And I kind of played it safe a little bit.I managed a beauty (3:04) supply. I helped a friend out managing her salon and I was like, okay, this is all great. And then (3:10) I lost both of my parents in 2021, within 60 days of each other. So, and it wasn't expected. (3:19) It was hard. It was during COVID.And, you know, COVID was hard enough to get through regardless (3:25) and then not to be able to be there for someone when they are dying and they can't have visitors. (3:31) It was very difficult. So that was the end of 2021.And then I fast forward to the beginning of 2022 (3:38) and one of my really good friends and clients said to me, you need help. You need some support. (3:45) And, you know, I've always been that person that I'm the doer.I am that type A. I check the boxes. (3:52) I go, go, go. And now all of a sudden I'm not dealing with grief because I'm an only child (4:00) and I had to take care of the entire estate. My dad still ran a business and, you know, (4:05) we were in the middle of kind of trying to figure out what to do with that. And then my mom passed.

(4:09) So, you know, the family home, some properties, all of these things had to be taken care of.And (4:14) I was the person that had to do it all. So I am blessed to have a great support system. (4:22) And I think that, you know, as women, we do take a lot on.I know I did. And you get burnt out, (4:30) but you don't realize you're burnt out, I think. And then my health started, it started affecting (4:35) my health and it started affecting my wellbeing. And, you know, I wasn't taking care of myself (4:40) and I would stuff my emotions with food, with alcohol, just with whatever. So I didn't have (4:47) to think. I didn't want to think.I didn't want to be a part of, you know, I just had to take care (4:54) of everybody. I knew I had to take care of my family, my kids, my grandkids, my husband, (4:57) and then in another city take care of that. And I can say that grief is something that it doesn't (5:07) get easier. It just gets, you get to learn how to manage it a little bit differently, I think. (5:13) And I know we have talked and I know you've lost your, you lost your mom, correct? And I know, (5:19) yeah. And it's, it's not easy. And some days you wake up and it's just hits you. So you never know, (5:25) right? So I sought after a coach and it literally shifted my whole life. It really did.She helped (5:36) me see what was possible. And she also allowed me to realize who I got to be during the shit storm.

(5:48) And I didn't know that that was a choice.I didn't know we got to choose who we get to be. I just (5:53) thought I am a stylist. I'm a mom.I'm a grandmother. I'm a wife. I'm a daughter.(5:58) I'm all of these things, but who do I get to be during the chaos and the confusion? (6:05) And I really took it on. And I really realized that I want to be confident. I want to be (6:12) determined.I want to be loving and patient. I want to be all of these things, but I can't be them (6:18) if I don't know who I am. So I went on a journey of self-discovery and, (6:26) you know, I'm always learning, but this last year has really taught me a lot.I didn't jump in. (6:31) I didn't embody it. I kind of had that one foot out because I was afraid and I didn't trust myself.(6:37) I didn't feel like I could do this. Like to sit here and know that our voices are going to be (6:43) out there for people. And are they judging? Are they thinking? Are they saying? (6:49) And I've come to the realization that none of that matters.Because if I can help one woman (6:55) see what's possible in her life and who she chooses to be is more important than anything (7:01) else she'll ever do, then I've done my job. Yeah. And that's why we both do what we do.(7:08) That's where we first talked. Yes. We just clicked on that for sure. And then when I decided to do (7:15) this podcast, I have a podcast and when I put the post out to kind of just see what happened, (7:23) my response was overwhelming and it was a beautiful thing. And I met you and you've (7:28) come on my podcast. And now I get to be on yours and speak to your followers and let them know that (7:35) anything, whether it's PCOS, whether it's cancer, whether it's grief, whether it's whatever you're (7:42) going through, you have the ability within yourself to change your mindset and to change (7:51) the way you see things so that you can heal.Yeah. If you don't take anything else away (8:01) from today, let that be it. Right.I mean, yeah, that's the message for sure. So now you are doing (8:07) some coaching yourself as well. You want to talk about that? Sure. The natural transition from (8:15) being behind the chair and listening to everyone tell me their personal stories. And I always said (8:21) I'd like to write a book and made that maybe in my future. But I really, I really, I survived (8:31) marriages and twice I've been married and a divorce. And I survived my son going through (8:37) an addiction and my ex-husband passing away. And all of the things that I survived through those (8:43) years of working with people and them helping me see what was there and me helping them, (8:50) the natural transition then was to become a coach and to help people one on one more so than I can (8:58) even touch from behind the chair. Right. So if I can do this through podcasting and I can do this (9:04) through Zoom and that is one good thing that came out of COVID is that we got to realize that we can (9:10) still connect and we can still feel each other's energy, even though you're in Florida and I'm in (9:15) Ontario, Canada, right? Like we can still connect and that was just a beautiful thing.

(9:23) So I have a one-on-one coaching business. I also do group coaching and I also just (9:29) with my podcast, I think that that is part of the coaching as well.I think that (9:34) hearing where people are and what's possible and knowing that someone came through that storm and (9:41) you're here today to talk about it, that itself is helping people and it's coaching too. So (9:46) it's just, it lights me up and makes me happy. It makes me happy to feel that I'm helping people.(9:53) Yeah. Yeah. I mean, again, like that's where, you know, the podcast, same thing for me, (10:01) like mine's even evolved, you know, to just, sure we can talk more specifically about PCS and I do (10:07) on some episodes, but I think that there's just so many stories like yours that, you know, (10:13) and messages that I can say it all day long too, but, but I think people need to hear that message (10:18) from other people too and, and hear about what they've been through. So they just do understand (10:25) you can get through this and it might, it might be hard along the way. It probably will be (10:31) ups and ups and downs, but you can do this. Yeah, you can.And I think it's about choosing (10:40) your heart because I know that stepping out of our comfort zone is a huge thing. I know that, (10:45) you know, when I was in the summertime, I had a really low point and I was really grieving and (10:54) not understanding, like, how do I do it? Like, what do I do? How do I do this without them?

(11:00) Right. And, and then it was like, feel those feelings, feel them. That's the hard part is (11:07) allowing yourself the time and the space to feel what you're feeling, acknowledge it and not stuff (11:16) it, not, not push it away and then walk through and know that this is happening for you. It's not (11:26) happening to you. You get to get through this. You really do. And there is hope on the other (11:31) side because there's how many women that we talk to every day that have gotten through it, (11:37) you know, and, and that is a testament to knowing that it's possible. (11:43) Yeah.Yeah. I mean, and there is a, is a tie to physical conditions that can, you know, be tied to (11:52) things, you know, traumas and just things that have happened in the past that we suppress and (11:57) we just don't deal with. And then those can later manifest as something like PCOS, you know, cancers, (12:03) I mean, all kinds of different things.Yeah. It's so true. It's so true. That's, I know that (12:11) my cancer was as far progressed as it was because I didn't listen to my body. I didn't. I was a (12:20) stylist.I worked 12 hour days. I was always go, go, go. And I didn't have time for lunch and I (12:25) didn't, and it was grab and eat and go and, and text somebody and hold, like we had talked about (12:30) this, like you don't go to the bathroom for 12 hours.Your body knows that because you don't have (12:34) time. Yeah. Well, what really, you don't have time to take care of yourself because if you don't take (12:42) that time, it's, it's what 30 seconds to run to the bathroom. You know what I mean? Maybe it's a (12:48) minute, you know, but it's not long and that to keep your health and to put yourself first, like, (12:55) you're not allowing yourself that time. Things happen and your body tells you and you're not (13:02) listening because you're not paying attention because we get so busy in our lives. Like, (13:08) yeah, we don't hear our bodies. We don't hear those signs. And then sometimes, God forbid, (13:13) it's too late. Yeah.Yeah. I mean, it was for me. I've shared that before I did, you know, (13:21) and then of course, the more I just learn about myself and, and everything after I was diagnosed, (13:28) like there were signs for so, so long that I did not listen to.And even, (13:34) I think even as healthcare workers, we're probably the worst, you know, for that reason, (13:40) because we're, we're just in that caretaking mindset all the time for one. But then I think (13:45) we also kind of think, well, nothing's going to happen to me, you know, that stuff's not going (13:49) to happen to me. And so you just ignore it all and brush it off.And so your body is, you know, (13:54) is like grabbing you and saying, exactly. Yeah. Yes.Yeah, absolutely. Yeah. So your podcast (14:06) is called the art of being unstoppable.Yeah. So I mean, we've talked a little bit already, (14:15) but how would you really define that? Like, you know, what's the podcast about? And, and what (14:20) kind of may just settle on that? I, so I've been doing this podcast now for about a year and a (14:26) half. And I did it with, I worked with my coach and another girl worked with us, there was three (14:32) of us.And I wanted to create a podcast and I had all these ideas and what I wanted it to be.

(14:37) And I had no idea how to do it. I had no clue.Okay. So I just said, okay, let's do it. So we (14:45) met and we would record a couple and we had one girl that lived in upstate New York. And then (14:50) my coach and I, but she was busy. I was busy. Our lives were busy and we would record and we (14:57) always put them out.We have like, I think we've, we had like 50 episodes that we did (15:01) put out, which I think is huge, right? Because most people don't even get past the dozen. (15:09) And, but it wasn't, it wasn't all what it could be. And I knew that. And (15:18) it last year, my, my girlfriend and I, she had said, you know, (15:23) I know you want to take this on full time. And she just, I don't have the capacity. I'm building (15:27) her career shifted a little bit, not just from coaching, but she's into storytelling too.And (15:35) she's helping business owners really discover what they are capable of. Right. So I knew that (15:42) she couldn't do this full time anymore either. So I decided that, right, then I'm doing it. (15:50) So I began doing it. And then I came back from visiting with my son in Florida (15:56) and I was here by myself in the house. My husband was away. And I was like, (16:01) I heard that voice say, you are all in. You are all in.Trust yourself. You can do this. Your (16:10) message is powerful. You want to help women. You get to do this. You are doing it now on this small (16:16) scale. You can do it on a larger scale. And I put one post out into the entrepreneur group on (16:23) Facebook. And like I said earlier, I had a great response. So what it, it started out as, you know, (16:31) we talked about everything, right. And all the bullshit in between is what we really did.

(16:35) And now it's talking about women and how women, we can change the world. We are living in a world (16:45) of confusion and chaos all the time. And we are, everything's at our fingertips all the time. And (16:50) it's a go, go, go, go, go society. And if we don't learn to stop and smell the roses and actually (16:57) listen to ourselves, we are going to do more damage than good. So if we can, if this can create a (17:05) platform for women to come on, tell their story, not only does that help build their business (17:13) and right. And, and, but it helps their mission grow.It helps their vision grow. And I think that (17:22) we are not a competition. We are women empowering each other and I want you to succeed. It isn't (17:30) about the finish line. It's about the journey and it's about how many people we can bring up with us. (17:35) And that's what I want to do.So I want to help women and I want it to be on a global scale. I (17:40) don't want it to just, and I'm not saying that my community isn't important because it is to me, (17:45) but I now realize what's possible. And if I can get it out there to the more women, (17:51) then we can help and support more women.Yeah. I love that. Yeah. It's a, I mean, (17:57) I've had guests, you know, on my podcast that are very similar to what I do, but everybody's (18:04) different, you know, we all have different stories. And so if you might relate to others, (18:08) you know, more than they might relate to me and that's, that's fine because I would want (18:12) someone working with somebody that they feel comfortable with, you know, that they can (18:17) jive with. So, yeah. And if you're not aligned with that person, you're not serving them the (18:22) way that you could be serving someone you're aligned with either. And I always say like, (18:26) if it's not me, that's okay. I'm okay with that.I don't need to, you know, it's, it's not about, (18:32) and I don't do it for the recognition, the money. I don't do it for any other reason than (18:37) I love it. I want to do this.I know that it's powerful and I know that we can make change.

(18:44) So if it isn't me, it's okay. Let me know what you're looking for.And you know what? I will (18:49) find you someone. Yeah. Yeah.Yeah. Right. And, and you will find them someone and because we (18:56) want to help, we don't, it doesn't have to be with us.Like, you know, it's not a competition. It's (19:01) a collaboration. Exactly.Yes. Yes. Yeah.Again, I mean, I've done, I've done a couple of (19:08) collaboration events. But even just the podcast, that's, that's what this is about, you know, (19:13) supporting each other. And, and I think the more we support each other and hold each other up and (19:20) build that community, we can spread that message, you know, wider and (19:26) that's right.Exactly. And, you know, and I have this vision of us all getting together (19:33) somewhere and meeting and really empowering each other. And this isn't small. This is (19:41) trusting ourselves to create something better and to be the best version of ourselves. Cause we can, (19:48) we have the capabilities, so let's do it. Yeah. And I mean, I think just, you know, (19:54) obviously like things have changed, you know, so much from back in the day, right. When, you know, (20:01) women didn't have this capability and they were thought of as just more of, you know, the mom and (20:08) the, you know, the caretaker of the house and all that stuff. And maybe, you know, for somebody (20:16) that's doing that today, that's so great.Like, I think we've learned that's still an amazing (20:21) job right there, but we also have the ability to do that and all these other things. (20:29) And yeah. And spreading that message, I think is super important as well.(20:34) It is, it is. It doesn't matter what you do, if you're choosing, but as long as you're, (20:39) it's making you light up, it's making you happy and you realize that this is your path and you (20:46) know how it's making you feel. Because if we do, like, I always loved doing hair, even though I (20:51) was exhausted at the end of the day and I wasn't home when my kids were small enough, you know, (20:56) I know that, but they don't ever say, mom, you weren't there because I was still there.(21:03) And my mom was a stay at home mom. And I remember after my dad died, my dad taught me business. My (21:09) dad was an entrepreneur and he taught me business and we were driving. And I said to my mom, (21:14) because my mom was sad. My mom never felt like she was worthy because she didn't have an (21:19) education. She didn't work. She didn't feel that. And I, it made me so sad. And now it makes me even (21:25) more sad because I see what I couldn't see before.Right. And I said to her, as we were driving, (21:31) I said, mom, I said, you don't see yourself the way I see you and the way your grandchildren (21:36) and great-grandchildren see you. You are the anchor of this family. You are Christmas to us.

(21:45) You are, you create those special moments in those memories that I have had every year of my life (21:50) that you've been with me. You created that, no one else. And that in itself is something that (21:56) you should be so proud of. And, and if I wouldn't have known how to be a good mom and a good cook (22:02) and a good wife and a good, if you weren't my mom, right. Like you showed me those things, (22:07) even through the hard times and even through the, you know, the, your insecurities and stuff, (22:14) but I've learned so much.So don't ever sell yourself short in what you're giving to the world. (22:20) That's the key is there could be a gap between you and I, that we, we like our religious political, (22:27) whatever beliefs is everyone has their own beliefs and that's okay. But that gap can be (22:32) filled and it can be filled with love and, and understanding. We don't have to agree on everything. (22:39) It's not about being right and wrong. It's about coming together and showing the world that it is (22:44) possible despite any other thing we get to come together and build each other up and show people (22:52) what's possible.Yeah. Yeah. Do you have any maybe either guests that you've had on your show or, (23:01) or stories of clients that you've worked with that kind of really stand out and yeah.(23:09) Yes, I do. I have you know, every single woman that I have met and connected with has been (23:18) amazing. So I don't want to sell anyone short because of the connection, whether they were (23:24) very intuitive, whether they were of one girl who's a lawyer, like a very high litigation lawyer in (23:31) New York. And now she's coaching because of her nervous system and because of what it was costing (23:37) her health. I had another woman who is a coach on a grand scale and she's intuitive. And the moment (23:44) we connected, that was this alignment that, and she looked at me and she said, can I say one thing (23:50) to you? And I said, yes, you can.Her name is Susanna. She's from Australia and she's just a (23:55) beautiful soul. She said, stop saying you're going to try you're doing it.And if we can believe that (24:08) in ourselves, then we can take that. And that's what made me take that step and be sitting here (24:14) every day with, I have 10 calls in a calendar in a day and I'm like so excited from the first one to (24:21) the 10th one because I'm meeting these beautiful souls. And that's what, so I, and I just feel so (24:30) blessed to be able to, you know, help and support and coach women that need it or that didn't really (24:40) know that they did, but then they uncover something and they go, oh my goodness, that's (24:44) what's been holding me back.I mean, I, I love that, you know, reframing, you know, the mindset (24:53) because I've even, you know, I catch myself. I definitely have, have kind of made that switch (24:59) along the way, but I still, you know, falter once in a while, but I think it even goes, (25:03) goes back to what you were kind of saying about your mom too, about being worthy enough and it, (25:07) you know, and it goes back to just, I am enough. I actually start off my, my program because my (25:14) coach initially did this with me and now I do it with my clients and they have to write it on (25:19) their mirror. They could print it off and tape it on their mirror, you know, something. So it's (25:23) staring at them every single day, you know, and not, I'm trying to be better. It's, I am better.

(25:29) I am enough. And a lot of those issues, the traumas and a lot of things, you know, (25:37) stem from enoughness. Right.I'm sure you see that, you know, with your clients and everything (25:43) as well. Yeah. Yeah. And so kind of reframing to say, I am, you know, I am worthy. I am bold. I am (25:53) confident, you know, whatever it is.Yes. Yes. That's right.Yeah. And we can all be different (25:59) and we can all be the same. Doesn't matter. We can have the same goals. We can have the (26:02) same wishes. We can have the same and we can have completely different lifestyles, but we are enough (26:09) and we're worthy of that recognition, that, that love, that support we are.(26:16) And I see that, that I feel it like I do. I feel it. And I've even said that to my husband today, (26:21) because, you know, his mindset is completely different and I'm working on it, but he's (26:27) going to want it though.Right. Like he has to. And that's what I said to him.He said, (26:32) you're that lady. I heard you talking and she's, she used to be a litigator and now she's a coach. (26:38) How's she making money? What's she? And I'm like, see, but that's his mindset.Right. Because he, (26:43) he, he looks at the old school way of being like in that way of doing. And it's like, but that's (26:48) not the way the world has to be.I said, look at your girls, like, look at our family, look at the (26:55) transitions that we've all been making. And even him, he's been making, you know, and I said, (27:00) they may be these little steps, but every step is something to something bigger and something greater. (27:08) Yeah.I mean, that's the same thing, you know, with my clients, when I work with my clients, (27:13) it's always just a little something each day. I mean, you know, I don't know if you've read (27:17) atomic habits, but you know, he talks about 1% better each day, you know, instead I think (27:24) we get in this mindset of like this big goal and like, we're going to hit it tomorrow when we know (27:30) that's not possible. And you have to focus on the small things and the small wins, the small (27:35) goals along the way and, and all the tiny little wins.So I talk about that a lot with, with my (27:41) clients, too. I've talked about it on the podcast, you know, with other people. And, and yes, I, (27:47) I think for us, too, it's, it's kind of, it's a long game, you know, yes, we, I do believe I'm, (27:55) I'm making a difference in at least one woman's life, you know, when they hear an episode.

(28:02) But I know, eventually, I'm going to get on a bigger, you know, a bigger stage, (28:07) and spread that message to absolutely. Yeah. But it's not gonna, it's gonna, it's gonna get there.(28:15) But it might, right? Like, you know, it might, it might be just it because once you step into it, (28:20) and you really feel it, and you believe it, the universe source creator, whatever you choose to (28:27) believe in, it hears you. Yeah. And you are being it, you are going to receive it.And I truly (28:37) believe that. And, you know, that's a whole conversation for another time. But I truly do, (28:45) I believe that we have the power, that's our power. And, and, you know, I believe that we (28:50) have infinite possibility, and we get to do and choose and be all of that we want to be. (28:55) Yeah. And I think if, if somebody around you is telling you otherwise, then you really need to (29:01) evaluate your relationship, you know, with that person.I mean, when we have the gym, (29:06) I can't tell you how many women would be so excited, you know, they'd sign up for a membership, (29:10) they'd have an amazing experience, amazing class feeling great. And then they want to cancel like (29:16) the next day. And I don't, I don't think I ever got any of them to admit to why.But deep down, (29:24) I think I knew it was because they got home, and maybe it was house, or maybe it was a friend (29:30) that just got in their ear and said, you know, are you really gonna do that done other stuff (29:35) before, but you quit? You know, are you sure you're going to commit to three times a week, (29:39) and you're probably not going to see, you know, all these things, right? Like, I knew that that's (29:43) probably more than likely, what was happening, I think, evaluating the people around you might (29:48) even be part of the process, which, again, is not going to be easy. It's not, but choose your (29:54) heart. Yeah, choose your heart.Because honestly, if people aren't here to support you, (30:00) they don't have to. And you know, there's that difference to with when I first started on this (30:05) personal growth. For myself, I, I, of course, wanted everyone, oh, my goodness, your life will (30:13) change. And then I realized, like, that's their journey. And I can't force my thoughts, my views, (30:22) my beliefs on anyone. All I get to do is show up as powerfully as I can for myself. And who's supposed (30:30) to be in my world is going to be in who's not, that's okay. It's their journey, they get to go (30:37) in whatever way that they want to, because it's not about the destination. It's about the journey.

(30:44) Because I don't want to get to the destination. I want to be here for a long time showing people (30:49) what's possible, right? That destination isn't fun for anyone, right? So let's enjoy the journey and (30:55) make it the best it can be. And it doesn't have to be your close circle that's going to support you.(31:01) And unfortunately, sometimes it isn't. (31:05) Whether it's jealousy, whether it's uncomfortable, whether it's opening something up that they don't (31:10) want to deal with yet, and that's okay. That's okay. But again, like you said, it's not easy. (31:17) But you're not doing it to be selfish, you're doing it to be selfless. And when we put ourselves (31:22) first, and people don't understand that that's not a you problem. That's a them problem. (31:26) Exactly. Yes, that's exactly right. For sure. (31:33) As we kind of start to wrap up, for anybody listening that does feel, you know, just kind (31:38) of stuck and feeling like they can't get past whatever it is going on in their lives, whether (31:45) that is, you know, with PCOS, what's kind of one piece of advice that you would give them to start (31:52) today? Get quiet. Get quiet.Allow yourself the time to ask yourself those questions and just (32:02) get quiet. Because the answers are there. They usually always are.And we're afraid because if (32:09) we keep going, and we keep moving, we don't have to hear that. I did it. I did it for a long time, (32:15) many years of my life. And now that quiet time for me is hearing (32:24) myself and trusting in myself. So get quiet. That's what and if you're struggling, reach (32:32) out. There's so much help out there. And again, like it doesn't have to be you, it doesn't have (32:38) to be me. But if you don't know who, let us know and we'll help you find them.Like, yeah, (32:44) you know, but allowing yourself that quiet is is key. I think I think that that's a huge thing (32:50) because we don't like quiet. No one wants to sit down.Right? Because then they're sitting with (32:53) their own thoughts. But once you start, it's empowering. It's a beautiful thing to sit with (32:59) your own thoughts and just sit and be able to be quiet.Yeah, I like it now. Actually, I love it a (33:15) lot. My husband travels for work. And so, of course, I miss him dearly. But, you know, when (33:22) he's gone, I do I get that quiet time, I get to be creative. And I get to actually, you know, (33:27) think about what my next steps are and do all the things. And yeah, and again, it's at home.

(33:35) That's right. I do.It's true. I'm getting so much done. Because in between, I'm getting to (33:41) I'm really wanting to declutter and, you know, to get rid of the chaos so that it's (33:46) it's a good environment as well, which is something to work on.Exactly. Yes. (33:55) Well, last question is, how can people find you and connect with you? And I'll link everything (34:00) in the show notes, but I still like to put it out there as well.Yeah, absolutely. I'm on Facebook. (34:06) I'm also VM beautiful is my website. If you're interested about being on the podcast, (34:12) you can always connect with me there. And yeah, I'm on Facebook, I have a business page, but I (34:19) also have a community on Facebook. And I would love anyone to join any woman that's looking for (34:25) empowerment and just community. It's called the art of being unstoppable. And it's a community on (34:29) Facebook. And I really, I started growing it the day before I started by my one post.(34:36) And it's really, I love it. I do. And it's nice. We're doing a little challenge in there for this (34:42) week. And it's just about getting to know each other. So yeah, those are those are some of the (34:46) ways but VM beautiful is my website. And you can always reach me there as well. Awesome. Well, (34:53) thank you so much. This is a great conversation. So many good things. (34:59) Thank you.I appreciate you as well. Thank you so much. And whether you're navigating (35:33) PCOS, grief, burnout, or just feeling stuck, you don't have to do it alone. If this episode (35:38) resonated with you, I would love for you to share it with a friend who needs this message.
